Happy 7th Anniversary!

Once again the anniversary date of this blog’s first post has come around and this year we’ve reached the (lucky?) number seven. I’d like to take a moment here to thank each and every person who has taken time out of their day over these years to read and/or interact with the blog – I really do appreciate it!

Here’s the section where I would typically draw back the veil and discuss a little bit of what’s been happening with myself personally this year. However, there really isn’t anything to write – I honestly have no idea where the time has gone in the past 12 months (perhaps that’s a sign that I’m getting old 😦 ) and absolutely nothing interesting or noteworthy has happened to me. While this may be quite nice personally, it makes for boring reading so let’s swiftly move on.

Regarding what may be the “elephant in the room” as such – the lack of Otome-related content on the blog in the last couple of years. The explanation to this is a bit of a long story but, to cut it short, I spend a lot of time on my laptop so it’s just easier for me to play PC games, which happen to be galge. And the more I play this genre, it reminds me of how much I missed it (most of my introductory VNs were galge back in the day). This, combined with the fact that PC otome games tend to have darker adult content (not my tastes) and the lack of newer console Otome Games that interest me at the moment means I am naturally more drawn to galge at the moment. I don’t really see this changing in the upcoming months, but that doesn’t mean I suddenly hate Otome games – there’s definitely games I still want to play from the genre!

However, after playing so many older games, I have been curious about the newer releases and do actually plan to go back to pre-ordering monthly titles when I’m interested. I did this in June with Amaemi & have 2 games pre-ordered for the end of August already. I was wondering though if readers would be interested in me pushing reviews of these games forward – i.e. they get reviewed like a month after they come out rather than 3-4?

Natsu no Owari – One of the two August releases I have pre-ordered.

The final thing that I wanted to talk about today is the slight change in review format that I’ve been doing for the past couple of posts. I’ve mentioned it in passing but I really do have a lot of games that I’ve finished but still have to review and felt that perhaps the overly drawn-out form of my reviews was hindering me. I still have a lot to improve but with this new, more succinct format I feel I can get accross what I want to say without as much fluff. I’m going to keep doing these kinds of reviews for at least the next few months and then make a final decision.

So that’s about all I have to update everyone on for this year, thanks again for being here and putting up with my inconsistencies. I appreciate you all!

And I like this new review style of yours! It flows very naturally. Whatever you decide to stick with, I know you’ll be great at it!
