Happy 5th Anniversary!

So yet another year has flown by, I swear they’re definitely going in quicker each time!

I definitely want to take the opportunity to thank each and every person who has taken the time to click on this blog over the past 5 years – it truly means so much to me that there are people out there who take the time to read my rambling posts! (ˊ•͈ ◡ •͈ˋ)

It’s that time of year again where I talk a bit about myself & what’s been going on “behind the scenes” as it were, skip to the below image if you want to avoid me being dramatic as per usual (I wouldn’t blame you, haha).

So, basically, all was going decently well for me until the start of this year where my health took a turn for the worse. Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious but my chronic health condition has decided to have a “flare-up” that’s lasted the best part of 8 months (yeah, I don’t think that’s just a flare anymore). I found a decent doctor who was pretty helpful but he was only working in my area temporarily which sucks because he’s since left.

My back also decided to play up & for the past 6 months I’ve been suffering with that – no one can decide if it’s nerve pain (sciatica), inflammatory (arthritis) or mechanical. Apparently imaging it won’t make a difference to the treatment so I’ve just been on varying painkillers and physio. The doctor I have now has been messing around with my medication in general though & coming off one tablet in particular has had ~fun~ neurological effects so my lack of posts and such lately is because writing is much more difficult at the moment. I’ll get through it eventually though! ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

There’s definitely been some positives to my year though – the job I started last year is much more enjoyable for me & I managed to increase my hours slightly so I’m not too worse off financially. My University degree is also progressing decently, I’ve had the summer off though so I’m lazy now, haha.

It wouldn’t be 2020 without addressing the current global situation, would it? I’m incredibly grateful that, whilst my country as a whole was affected badly, my particular area has (so far) been incredibly lucky and seen very few cases. I work in a healthcare setting though so it was definitely scary for a while! I hope everyone is staying safe wherever you are in the world!

In regards to the blog, I have a significant amount of reviews still to post – for some reason I’m really stuck on the “only post on Fridays” thing but let me know down below if you just want me to post reviews when they’re ready? That would probably make more sense since I have like 8 reviews still to post (๑•﹏•)⋆* ⁑⋆*

As you may have noticed, the blog has definitely had more of a shift towards galge this year. This is because I personally enjoy both genres & they fit the romance theme of the blog. I’ve fallen down the DMM rabbit hole and keep buying games on sale for a mere 500yen too which is not helping my backlog. Considering how long said backlog is I do still have plenty of otome games to get through as well and will cover a few PC otoge over the next year. I did try and branch out into the “summary” type of review but I don’t think that’s really for me since I tend to waffle at the best of times (shoutout to everyone who can write these types of reviews in such a succinct but entertaining manner!).

Also, because my backlog is still so ridiculously long, I will be focusing more on clearing it (or at least keeping it steady) so newer games will likely be off my radar for a while. With exception of perhaps the Piofiore fandisk/sequel because the Stellaset is calling me~

Soooooo I may or may not have spent much of this year playing enstars (yet again!). Since the release of Music I’ve been playing both versions of the game pretty much equally because I just can’t decide which I prefer – Basic is considerably easier but Music is more fun & I LOVE the office part because it’s adorable. The music was always one of my favourite things from the series (aside from the characters) so making a rhythm game makes sense. I suck at rhythm games, the only one I was ever any good at was YumeCast, but it’s not too bad (aside from Gate of Abyss!!!)

This takes up a lot of time but not as much money surprisingly because there’s no rank cards anymore (thank heavens, although I wonder how long that’ll last?!). They supposedly increased the 5* pull rate too but actually decreased the liklihood of getting the specific cards introduced in the scout. I keep getting the initial 5* cards instead of the new ones which is annoying & after 70 pulls in Sora’s scout I got neither him nor Tsumugi’s 4* which was actually just hilarious at that point! ヽ(*｀ﾟД´)ﾉ

I appreciate that I can still use the ~100 5-star cards that I’d hoarded in the original game, although they have made the new 5 stars slightly “stronger” to encourage you to actually bother collecting them I guess?

Anyways, that’s enough of me waffling for another year – this blog should continue to be uploaded with pretty much the same content that you’ve come to expect (and hopefully enjoy!). Posts will likely still be fortnightly or 2-3 times per month and will primarily be reviews, with perhaps the occasional extra post.

I actually have two slightly more unsual posts planned for the next couple of days so I hope you enjoy those also!
